Deer Valley Dental Care Offers Sedation
At Deer Valley Dental Care, we aim to help patients receive treatments they need as comfortably as possible. We understand that even routine procedures may be difficult for some, so we will work hard to minimize any distress you may be enduring.
Dental sedation is designed to help all patients maintain their oral health, regardless of their anxiety level. It can bring you to a relaxed state, where you will still be able to respond when the dental team talks to you. Our staff will be monitoring your vital signs throughout the entire procedure, and at the end, you will recall little or none of your time in the dental chair.
Get started by asking yourself these questions:
- Do you feel stressed or anxious merely thinking about dental visits?
- Do your worries often stop you from seeing your dentist?
- Do you not feel comfortable about needles?
- Does the dental office environment make you feel uneasy?
- Did you have dental-related traumas when you were a kid?

Nitrous Oxide Gas
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is the oldest form of sedation for dentistry. Administered before and during dental treatment, nitrous oxide is typically given through a small mask that fits over the nose. It allows you to stay awake for the procedure, which means you can advise your dentist how you feel and if you want the gas adjusted.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedation usually comes in the form of pills prescribed to you by your dentist. One example of an oral sedative is Ativan, which is commonly used in dental offices. This medication makes you feel more calm while in the dental chair. Oral sedatives may take longer to wear off, so you will need to have someone to drive you home.
