IntraOral Cameras

At Deer Valley Dental Care, one of the pieces of equipment we use to help our South East (SE) Calgary patients better understand their dental health, is an intraoral camera.

What Are IntraOral Cameras?

This device looks like a pen but is able to capture videos. It’s connected to the computer system and the TV screen on the ceiling above each chair.

Because of its small profile, an intraoral camera can be easily moved inside your mouth. We’re able to share with you enlarged images and real time footage of your teeth examination.

We can freeze and store the picture taken inside of your mouth. This means we can take an instant photograph of your teeth for your records.

This painless and no-radiation technique lets you see dental problems such as tooth decay or fractured teeth.

We can show you what is going on in your mouth in real time.

Benefits of Intraoral Cameras

  • Understanding oral health better.
  • During each dental checkup, your dentist walks you through the condition of your teeth and mouth.
  • Examining your teeth and mouth in great detail. Intraoral cameras come with LED lighting and powerful magnifying capabilities.
  • The dental office can as well provide you with precise before and after images of your mouth. This will enable you to monitor the progress of your treatment.
  • Saving time for you. Should you be using your insurance coverage for your treatment, the dentist can provide images of your mouth which can be presented as proof of your condition. There’s no waiting time for these photos to be produced. They help make the entire treatment process simpler, including the coordination with your insurance provider.
