Snoring
What causes snoring? When you sleep your muscles relax and the soft palate vibrates as you breathe in and out. Snoring occurs when air can't flow freely in and out of your throat. Alcohol, sedatives, and excessive weight tend to worsen the affects of snoring. Sleep ApneaDo you wake up every morning feeling like you just didn't get a good nights rest? Do you then find yourself going to work in a daze? Do you find yourself falling asleep behind the wheel as you are driving? If you display even a few of these symptoms there be a good chance that you are suffering from sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a condition where people stop breathing for very short intervals of time while they are sleeping. This can happen up to 400 times in one night. Breathing may stop up to 3 minutes and then you wake up gasping for air. Once you start breathing again you fall back to sleep. This cycle can continue all night long, night after night. Snoring/Sleep Apnea ApplianceThe snoring appliance is custom made for your mouth. It is worn while you are sleeping and it realigns the lower jaw and helps prevent the soft palate from closing the throat and allows more air to flow in and out. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to get used to wearing the appliance, but before long you won't want to go to sleep without it. This appliance can eliminate snoring and dramatically improve sleep apnea symptoms. At Deer Valley Dental Care we make this product available to you directly through our office.
